Announcing Techsylvania's second edition

The second edition of Techsylvania, is slowly approaching. Even though it’s only February, and there are still 4 months left until the event, we wanted to tell you a little bit about what you should expect to see this year.

As you probably already know, Cluj-Napoca, the city where the event is going to take place, is now the European Youth Capital. This is a great opportunity, that will help us attract young minds, that are ready to take over the IT market.

We said that the next edition will be even bigger, and better. So, let me tell you a little bit about what’s going to happen this year.

First of all, this year’s edition will take place between 6th and 9th June, and it is has Two Parts:

The Hackathon

The Hackathon will take place on 6th and on 7th June. We have only 130 seats available, so if you have an idea that is based on a wearable device, or connected technologies, hurry up to get your spot.

There will be 15 such devices available for you to play with. If you don’t know what to expect at a hackathon, read this beginner’s guide. Participating at a hackathon is definitely a thrilling experience. Also, note that the first three teams that have the best ideas, will get free passes for the conference, and they will be able to showcase their idea in front of the audience, and speakers.

The conference

We added an extra day for the conference part, which will take place on 8th and 9th June. Last year, we had only one day for the conference, but the goal for 2015 is to bring you 20 amazing, inspirational speakers.

So far, we have announced four of the amazing speakers we’ll be having at Techsylvania.

  • Jambu Palaniappan is the Regional General Manager for Central & Eastern Europe at Uber. We’re so excited to have someone from Uber at the conference. Hopefully, we can find out when Uber is coming to Cluj.
  • Tristan Pollock is an Entrepreneur in Residence at 500 Startups. We can’t wait to see what’s his input in regard to the startup world.
  • Rohan Chandran is Vice President and GM, Mobile Business Unit at Telenav. Rohan Chandran has a lot of experience with startups, and big companies as well, and he knows product management, user experience, and marketing.
  • Pascal von Rickenbach is VP Engineering at GetYourGuide. He has a PhD in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, and we’re positive that we’ll be hearing useful tips from him.

We’ll soon be announcing new speakers, so stay tuned to find out who they are.
